Cath Lab RN

  • Location: 1000 Carondelet Drive, Kansas City, MO 64114.
  • Shift: Typically 10-hour day shifts (e.g., 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), often working 4 shifts per week. Some travel or per-diem roles may offer 8 or 12-hour shifts.
  • On-Call: Minimum on-call duties are generally required. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pre-Procedure: Assess patients, obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, and prepare patients for catheterization.
  • Intra-Procedure: Assist cardiologists during interventions like angioplasties, stent placements, and electrophysiological studies.
  • Monitoring: Track physiologic and hemodynamic data during procedures and monitor for complications such as arrhythmias or bleeding.
  • Emergency Response: Quickly react to life-threatening events, including myocardial infarctions, utilizing ACLS protocols.
  • Equipment & Documentation: Operate complex hemodynamic monitors and diagnostic tools, and accurately document all aspects of patient care.
  • Post-Procedure: Ensure patient stability before discharge or transfer and provide clear post-procedure instructions to patients and families.
  • License: Active Missouri or compact State Registered Nurse license.
  • Education: BSN is preferred but not always mandatory.
  • Experience: At least one year of clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab or critical care unit (e.g., ICU, ER/ED) is required.
  • Certifications: Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
